For years Italy has been the country with the lowest birth rate in the world. The film maker follows the thread of her own family, and how it shows the fall in the Italian birth rate between 1900 and 2005. Italian women have, on average, main one child each. To be precise, one point two. What are the reasons for this? Speaking to women, the film maker discovers that the main reason is that Italy is a country unable to exchange the figure of the mother for that of the working mother.
